This series introduces graduate students and postdocs to the life sciences industry. Throughout this series, supported by Accelerate to Industry (A2i) at North Carolina State University, participants will hear about different opportunities within industry, as well as the landscape of the current job market and ecosystem of working in a corporate setting.

This professional development training platform helps doctoral students and PhDs successfully transition into academic or nonacademic career paths, offering synchronous webinars and asynchronous resources.

CIRTL

The Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL) is a National Science Foundation (NSF) center for learning and teaching in higher education. CIRTL is a cross-university network of over 40 diverse research universities across the U.S. and Canada committed to advancing the professional development of the next generation of STEM faculty. 

Programming includes professional development seminars, synchronous virtual workshops, semester-long seminar-based courses, journal/book clubs, and learning communities. Graduate students, postdocs, and interested faculty are welcome to join.

Imagine PhD

This free career exploration and planning tool for the humanities and social sciences is perhaps the best web-based resource for HSS PhDs wishing to explore careers available to them. Includes self-assessment tools, guides to job families, and resources for creating an Individual Development Plan.

National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity

The National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD) is a nationally recognized, independent organization that provides online career development and mentoring resources not just for faculty but for postdocs, and graduate students as well. 

The University of Pittsburgh's institutional membership with the NCFDD means that you can register and claim your membership for free.

National Postdoctoral Association

The National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) is a professional membership organization for postdoctoral scholars and the research institutions that support them. For doctoral students considering a postdoctoral position, the NPA career planning portal provides a range of career advice spanning personal branding, networking, interviewing, career insights, and job postings.

Office of Academic Career Development for Health Sciences

The Office of Academic Career Development for Health Sciences provides students in Pitt's schools of the health sciences with tools, resources, and support for achieving their full potential as leaders in biomedical research, education, and clinical practice.
